If you typically lay off the bronze tones in your winter glam, Selena Gomez just made an excellent case to revisit them. The singer wore a bronze mani and matching makeup—and delivered the perfect inspo to warm up your January beauty routine.
Just days after crafting her sleek “velvet noir” manicure for the Golden Globes, Gomez’s go-to nail artist Tom Bachik swapped out the singer’s nails for a softer winter vibe. To create the bronze manicure, he used Apres Nails shade Serengetiplains as a brown base, topped with a coat of The Sun from the brand’s shimmering Astral collection. The result is a rich, iridescent bronze with a slight purple undertone—the perfect way to winterize a traditionally summery shade.

We couldn’t help but notice how perfectly Gomez’s mani complements her makeup—which isn’t an accident. Gomez wore these nails to celebrate the launch of the Warm Wishes Soft Matte Powder Bronzer from her makeup brand, Rare Beauty. Snapshots from the celebration included cinnamon-dusted tiramisu, espresso martinis, velvet finishes, and fire-lit vibes (as further evidence that winter and bronze tones belong together).

Our feeds are full of makeup throwbacks this week thanks to the viral 2016 trend, and after so much emphasis on dewy skin, these toasted matte finishes feel cozy and nostalgic. Gomez isn’t the only one channelling bronzed beauty this week: Jennifer Lopez wore bronzer-forward matte glam with a nude lip to Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony, and Bella Hadid wore a similar look to the New York premiere of FX’s The Beauty on January 14.
If your makeup routine needs a winter touch, consider this your sign to jump on the trend early: Dust off those toasty powder palettes, try out a warm metallic eye shadow, and book your bronze mani, à la Selena Gomez, today.
