By now you’ve heard the news that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Spider-Man 4 alongside Tom Holland.
But while fans mull over which fictional redhead the 22-year-old actor is going to play—the most popular theory is probably X-Men’s Jean Grey—they’ll still have to wait for Spidey to stop filming Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey before production of the Marvel x Sony project can even begin. Even if all goes according to plan and Spider-Man starts filming this summer, it won’t come out until July 31, 2026. And no, we don’t have confirmation on Zendaya just yet.
At least we know we’ll get to see Sink reprise her role as snarky skater girl Max Mayfield in Stranger Things some time in 2025, though no official date has been announced.
Herein lies the problem. Despite amassing a stunning following since joining the hit Netflix series in season two in 2017 at just 14 years old, Sink has been purposeful about choosing roles that challenge her instead of racking up a list of TV and film credits a mile wide.
And while you’ve probably watched Taylor Swift’s music video for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” enough times to catch every Easter egg, there are still plenty of projects worth catching up on while you wait for ST5 and SM4. Here is a handy list.
O’Dessa (2025)
Sadie Sink must love the ’80s. The 22-year-old actor stars in yet another retro sci-fi project, this time set to rock music.
The film hits Hulu on March 20.
A Sacrifice (2024)
Who doesn’t love a cult thriller? In A Sacrifice, a social psychologist (Eric Bana) investigating a dangerous cult in Berlin must save his daughter (Sink) from that very cult when she falls for one of its members. Ah, young love.
The Whale (2022)
The Whale follows Charlie (Brendan Fraser), a teacher struggling with obesity and heart failure, as he attempts to reconnect with the teenage daughter (Sink) he abandoned years ago.
Stranger Things (2017–2025)
Season four spoiler ahead! Sadie Sink was a certified scene stealer in the second season of the hit sci-fi horror series, which is no easy feat when surrounded by the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, and Dacre Montgomery, who played her psychopathic older brother, Billy Hargrove. And while we last saw California skater girl Max Mayfield in a coma at the hands of Vecna, her apparent presence in season five suggests she’ll make it through that particular hurdle.
Dear Zoe (2022)
Sink really has a penchant for complicated father-daughter relationships. In this filme, based on the novel by Philip Beard, Sink’s Tess tries to repair her relationship with her drug-dealing biological father Nick (Theo Rossi) after the tragic death of her younger half-sister.
Fear Street 2: 1978 and Fear Street 3: 1966 (2021)
This horror trilogy based on the R.L. Stine book series follows the cursed town of Shadyside, Ohio, which is repeatedly plagued by murder and tragedy.
Watch all three parts on Netflix.
The Glass Castle (2017)
The same year Stranger Things 2 was released, Sink also starred in the adaptation of Jeannette Walls’s 2005 memoir about her unconventional, nomadic childhood and alcoholic father, played by Woody Harrelson.
Rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.
