The 9 Fall Hair Trends You’re About to See Everywhere

Here are all the cuts, colors, and styles to look out for this season.

Whether your favorite time of year is autumn or you’re a beauty fanatic, switching up your hair and leaning into the best fall hair trends for 2025 is a fun way to mark the new season. This fall expect to see lots of layered haircuts, new takes on bobs, deep, rich hair color, and more. Low-maintenance colors and cuts will continue to be popular, so with autumn on its way, we can’t help but wonder what the top fall hair trends will be this year. To find out, we spoke with professional hairstylists to get their insight on what we can plan on seeing this fall.

Think Sabrina Carpenter’s hair. Face-framing cuts like the butterfly cut are going to be popular all season long. They “have top-heavy layers,” says Jewell Hingorani, professional hairstylist and founder of Jewell Clip luxury hair extensions, which are “layers concentrated at the crown and face frame for volume and bounce.”

The quiet-luxury-esque cut is “polished but not fussy, flattering on so many face shapes, and creates instant volume,” says Hingorani. “I think it’ll trend because people are drawn to looks that feel rich, timeless, and Instagram-ready.”

Easily transition your Scandi blonde summer hair to vinyl pearl blonde this fall. This cooler-toned variation features “soft and dimensional blonde tones with a slightly cool iridescent reflect,” says Sean Godard, Redken global director for hair color in New York City. He loves it as a fall update to the warmer summer blondes, noting that this vinyl pearl shade is “flattering on a lot of different skin tones.”

Natural bronzed hair

Easy hair really is the name of the game this fall, and natural bronze fits the bill. “This season, color is shifting toward enhancing what’s already there,” says Sierra Kener, hairstylist and founder of Eské Salon in West Hollywood. “A bronzed shade adds richness and reflection—not too ashy and not too warm, making it universally flattering.”

Natural bronzed hair “is low-maintenance, grows out softly, and allows clients to look polished without constant upkeep,” says Kener.

Wispy bangs

Like a butterfly cut, wispy bangs are an easy, face-framing cut. “When the seasons change, clients often crave a small but noticeable refresh,” says Kener. “Wispy bangs are the perfect option as they frame the face, add dimension, and bring in softness without the commitment of a bold chop.”

The best part? “They’re versatile, easy to style, and low-maintenance,” she says.

Cinnamon copper

Red is here to stay this fall and will continue to be a top-requested shade, according to the stylists. Expect an update to last year’s popular cowboy copper color in the form of cinnamon copper, which is “deep, rich, and warm but with a natural feel,” says Godard.

Bold and luxurious, red can be higher-maintenance, Kener warns, “so I always remind clients it needs a professional’s touch to get the right tone for their skin and eye color.”

Smoked suede brunette

Smoked suede brunette is the epitome of fall hair color trends this year. “This fall clients are requesting to go richer and cooler versus the warmth everyone was requesting this summer,” says Godard. “Less sun-kissed or drastic looks and more natural rich tones.”

This dark, almost coffee-esque hair color strikes “that perfect balance of rich and cool, with just the right amount of depth and dimension,” says Beverly Hills–based Méche Salon colorist and Schwarzkopf Professional hair color trend ambassador Jacob Schwartz. “It’s a modern brunette that feels soft, smoky, and luxe.”

The cool tones deliver a smoked feel: “There’s this subtle ashiness layered into the warmth, which gives it a very refined, expensive finish,” says Schwartz. “Think seamless lowlights, muted brunette tones, and that silky suede texture that moves with the light.”

Modern bobs

Bobs are everywhere this year, from French bobs to Italian bobs, and they’re not stopping this fall. “These cuts feel modern and chic,” says Hingorani.

If you’ve been growing your bob out over the summer, you’re already on trend: “This season it’s longer, softer, and full of movement,” says Kener. “Instead of a straight-across blunt cut, this version feels more playful and feminine. It grows out gracefully, making it easier to maintain, and the length is perfect for versatility—whether worn waved, sleek, or styled up for the holidays.”

Break out the hair gel. Slicked-back buns, ponytails, and half-up, half-down looks are a going to be popular hairstyles this fall. They “look refined yet effortless,” says Hingorani. To switch things up a bit, you can also try a ’60s ponytail, she recommends, which is a “high, slicked pony with flipped ends for that retro bombshell vibe.”

Styling hack: Keeping your hair up and slicked back also keeps it out of your face during blustery fall weather!

Bouncy blowouts

The ’90s are calling and your hair is ready to answer. This season expect “Big, glossy blowouts with side parts that bring back a glamorous, dramatic feel,” says Hingorani. For some added visual interest (and to boost volume!), consider parting your hair on the side this fall.
